  • John Thomas Templeton, age 81, passed away on Monday, December 5, 2016, at his home in Hot Springs Village, Arkansas, surrounded by his sister, Katie Glenn, and his brother-in-law, Gary Glenn.

Tom was the second oldest of five children. He was born to the union of Pauline and Robert Templeton on July 22, 1935 in Dayton, Ohio.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Pauline and Robert Templeton, two sisters, Jean and Connie, and his youngest brother Steven.

Tom leaves to cherish his memory, a brother Larry Templeton of Fullerton, California, a sister Katie Glenn of Camarillo, California and a host of relatives and friends.

Tom was actively involved in the Los Posas Country Club in Camarillo, California and served two terms as Membership Chairman. Tom loved the game of golf and spent many hours on the club course with his friends. Tom was also active in Civic affairs and served as President of the Oxnard Chamber of Commerce and on the Board of Supervisors of Ventura County. Tom’s work career spanned 37 years at General Telephone California, beginning as a line man in Bellflower, California and retiring as Regional Director Customer Contact Service, Thousand Oakes, California.

After retirement, Tom moved to grapevine, Texas and worked three years as a consultant for GTE. He discovered Hot Springs Village on a weekend golf invitation from Cooper Corporation. After several return trips to the Village, he purchased a home on Coronado Golf Course and remained in the Village for twenty years until his death.

Tom, with his wonderful smile and great sense of humor, could light up any room and entertain everyone present. He was a unique and gifted man filled with life and love. He most of all, wanted his family and friends to remember him in his happier, healthier times of his life. As he requested, his ashes will be given to his sister and scattered, privately and quietly, at a special place.
